For many people the last few years have been challenging in many ways. For Smile for Me as a children surgical charity we have been unable to do what we love most… help the children in the Philippines who desperately need surgery.
It has been heart breaking to hear from so many families hoping we can return to perform the necessary surgery & for us to have to continually say we don’t know when we can return. Finally there is a glimmer of hope. We are still in negotiations but we are hoping 2024 is the year of our triumphant return. So far it is looking more likely than it has since Covid prevented us from undertaking our last surgical mission. So fingers crossed.
To get us back on track we are pleased to have been approached by Tas who will be doing a Superhero Walk to raise money to help the children in Cebu. Since we normally perform surgery on 80 children the plan is to walk 80 kms with a goal to raise $20000.
Mandy a founding member of Smile for Me & avid walker who has done many other fundraising walks for Smile for Me is going to join Tas on the walk. The walk is going to follow the picturesque coast of Sydney harbour from Manly to Bondi.
Tas will dress as the superhero that receives the most votes on his website (see the link attached) & Mandy I’ll walk dressed as Wonder Woman. They will walk to Bondi on the 9th-10th of September. We hope you will support Tas & Mandy so we can raise much needed funds to return to the Philippines next year.
